Lyrics, “My Momma’s for Obama but my Daddy’s for McCain”
On a chilly Monday morning in our sleepy little town, instead of having breakfast I had me a big breakdown.
But now Daddy’s up and left us and Momma’s cryin’ tears. And all because of politics and crazy fears,
you see, my Momma’s for ObamaBut my Daddy’s for McCain.I’m twisted and tormented–how I hate this whole campaign!
It’s much too much for a little girl of eight to comprehend. And I just want my Daddy home and Maw to be his friend.
My maw and paw don’t never fight, now let me make that clear. Not even on their wedding night–which happened just last year.
But now he calls her “Lib’ral.”She calls him a “right-wing-fool”and other funny words we never learned in Sunday school.
And yes, my Momma’s for ObamaBut my Daddy’s for McCain. And me I’m in the middle–how I hate this whole campaign!
It’s much too much for a little girl of eight to understand. And I just want my Daddy home here holdin’ Momma’s hand.
Now yesterday the mail came and he wrote her a note.It said “I ain’t comin’ back to youunless you change your vote.
You’ve always been my angel. My east, west, south, and north. But ya better make yer mind up quick’cause we vote November fourth.”
Oh yes, my Momma’s for ObamaBut my Daddy’s for McCain. And I can’t even vote yet in your dumb adult campaign!
It’s much too much for a little girl of eight to compehend. And I just want my happy home,my Bible-clingin’ pappy home, with Momma his best friend!
